Does this mean I have and FBI file now?
I know I haven't posted in a while. I haven't been too motivated lately. I am working on changing that though.As far as this post is concerned, I know that anyone who reads this will more than likely disagree with what I am saying. If you do, oh well. I am entitled to my opinion as much as anyone else is. If your opinion varies from mine, feel free to post. I am always up for intelligent conversation. Now, on with the show.
I have been thinking at length about Israel and the Palestinian Authority and it's new government led by Hamas. I have been reading about the founding of Israel.
First, let me make one thing clear. I totally believe that Israel has a right to exist as a country. What I do not believe is that they should not be held responsible for any of the discontent in the Middle East.
Let's take a look at the founding of Israel. One of the forces behind it's founding was the Irgun. Here is what Wikipedia has to say about Irgun.
Irgun (ארגון), shorthand for Irgun Tsvai Leumi (ארגון צבאי לאומי, also spelled Irgun Zvai Leumi), Hebrew for "National Military Organization", was a militant Zionist group that operated in the British Mandate of Palestine from 1931 to 1948. In Israel, this group is commonly referred to as Etzel (אצ"ל), an acronym of the Hebrew initials. In the time in which the Irgun operated, often people referred to the Irgun as 'הגנה ב or ההגנה הלאומית. The Irgun was classified by the British authorities and mainstream Jewish organizations as a terrorist organization, while others considered it to be an independence movement. Its political association with Revisionist Zionism rendered it a predecessor movement to modern Israel's right-wing Likud party/coalition.
So here is the thing. There seems to have been a Jewish terrorist group. What did they want? Here is what they wanted. Again, this is from taken from the Wikipedia article.
Provide a non-Socialist alternative to the leading Zionist organizations;
Eliminate or reduce the threat of Arab attacks on Jewish targets by assured and harsh retaliation for such attacks;
Bring to an end the British mandatory rule, which they considered in violation of international law
They key one right there is the third one. It would seem to me that by Israel occupying land that was not theres according to the 1947 UN Partition of Palestine, aren't they violating international law?
According to the article, this group attacked military and civilian targets. It bombed the King David Hotel which housed the British government of the Palestinian Mandate in 1946 killing 91 people. They were also involved in the massacre at Deir Yassin.
What I wonder is how Israel and most western countries can justify not dealing with Hamas when Hamas has taken the same steps for the some(note, I said some) of the same reasons Irgun did what they did. Simply put, they want the right to self govern which is not being allowed as long as there is no Palestinian state.
If money and funding are taken away from the Palestinian people, it will drive them into deeper poverty and cause more of a willingness to join terrorist organizations. If money is to be taken away from the Palestinians, then money should be taken away from Israel as well. These are my opinions, take them as you will. I just hope one day, there will be peace in the Middle East between Arab and Jew.
